Microstructure and Tribological Properties of Lubricating-Reinforcing Laser Cladding Composite Coating with the Ti2SC-Ti2Ni Mosaic Structure Phase

Lubricating-reinforcing composite coatings were successfully prepared on Ti6Al4V using laser-clad Ti6Al4V/Ni60/Ni-MoS2 mixed powders with different Ni-MoS2 contents (25, 35, and 45 wt.%), their microstructure tribological properties studied. The reinforcing phase TiC, Ti2Ni, the lubricating Ti2SC in situ precipitated while Ti2Ni formed a mosaic coherent structure within above three coatings. In 25 wt.% coatings, distribution uniformity of was not effectively improved by Ti2SC-Ti2Ni due to lower or higher content Ti2SC. 35 coating, forming quality coating best an appropriate amount uniformly distributed phase. Furthermore, microhardness gradually decreased as increased. diffusely phase, stable lubricating-reinforcing transfer films during progress friction wear tests, which led optimal worn surface evenness quality, anti-friction resistance compared Ti6Al4V, coating.
